Shelf life standards up to five years
Inorganic Ventures standards have always had a shelf life of one year. With the application of Transpiration Control Technology (TCT), you can now store standards for ICP-OES, ICP-MS and AAS for up to 5 years without any change in concentration. This period starts from the production of the batch, not from delivery.
Inorganic Ventures supplies standards that usually have a shelf life of two years upon arrival. We cannot always guarantee this, but we do always give you the assurance of at least one year.
For custom standards, we guarantee a shelf life of five years. These are, of course, tailor-made for you.
Background: what is transpiration?
Transpiration refers to the bottle wall allowing water vapour to pass through and/or evaporation from the closed bottle opening. This leads to an increase in the concentration of the CRM/RM.
The solution
Transpiration Control Technology extends the shelf life of the product. Inorganic Ventures uses a special aluminised bag that prevents an increase in concentration until the bag is opened. The sealed TCT bag stops the loss of water vapour from the bottle once equilibrium is reached in the bag. This means you receive the same high-quality product, but with a longer shelf life and greater certainty. This improvement comes at no extra cost to you. Our conditional warranty remains unchanged.
What does this mean for you?
You will receive the standards in a TCT bag. They remain certified for up to 5 years in the sealed bag. Once you open the bag, they have a shelf life of one year. Therefore, keep the bag closed until you are ready to use the product. The packaging clearly states the date until which you can use the standard.
